I experienced the Uffizi in Florence through new eyes thanks to a great guide. &nbsp;I highly recommend ArtViva! Elizabeth was knowledgeable and truly gave great insight into the styles and thinking of the times. <em>&nbsp;I love art history!</em>&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>You cannot avoid inspiration in Florence. &nbsp;Walking where Michelangelo, Cellini and many other greats walked. &nbsp; The language itself is musical. &nbsp;I came home ideas, concepts and more ideas.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>The current project is 6 by 8 foot! &nbsp;Lots of sparkling colors.....stay tuned.&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Thank you!</div><div>Gail&nbsp;</div> Sat, 12 Nov 2011 08:23:49 CST Website Maintenance <div>OMG! &nbsp; No wonder I put off updating my website. &nbsp; An entire day devoted to photographing the new work and then the posting! &nbsp;I will be glad when someone finds a way to make the posting process a bit more friendly. &nbsp;Of course, it could not have anything to do with my computer skills since I have been using one almost since they were invented. &nbsp;Anyway, check out all the new paintings. &nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>I am very excited to see <em>Euphorbia Shado</em>w and City Middle posted. &nbsp;I love all the new works, but <em>City Middl</em>e took the longest. &nbsp;Almost 4 months. &nbsp;I have noticed a definite patten in my working style. &nbsp;Paint like crazy, stop and stare, then I usually hate it and stare some more. &nbsp; After a day or two of just not liking it, I suddenly know exactly what to do. &nbsp; And just like that, I am in love the colors, the texture, and the feeling. When City Middle finally emerged, it gave me a tingling feeling all over.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><em>Euphorbia Shadow</em> feels like a sunny day. &nbsp; The texture was fun to create, almost like a piece of plastic or cellophane is laying there. &nbsp;<em>Party in Red </em>was another fun painting. &nbsp; The sparkling foil created just the feeling I was looking for. &nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>I hope you enjoy the works. &nbsp;Let me know what you think. &nbsp;</div><div>Wishing you all the best,</div><div>Gail&nbsp;</div> Sun, 30 Jan 2011 13:16:55 CST Where do ideas come from? <div>Where do my ideas come from? &nbsp;Everywhere! &nbsp; While listening to a complex topic in a meeting I sometimes doodle. &nbsp; When driving, inspiration may come from a flower garden or a building. Watching television, a combination of colors or shapes may catch my attention. &nbsp;Patterns and colors emerge when drifting off to sleep. &nbsp; The difficult part is deciding which idea and what size to pursue. &nbsp;Once started, I can easily paint all day.&nbsp;</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>I have been trying some new techniques which have been working out nicely. &nbsp;I love rich colors and some sparkle. &nbsp;Check out my new work to see some of my recent experiments. &nbsp;</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>Thank you for visiting and viewing!&nbsp;</div> Sun, 15 Aug 2010 11:53:17 CDT July 7, 2010 <h2>Welcome!</h2> <div>A visual escape...that is what I like to paint.&nbsp; A "visual vacation" from the bland walls that make up most of our life. &nbsp;Images that a bit unreal and yet familiar. &nbsp;Elements of flowers, fruit, music, plants and 'alien' landscapes and cityscapes.&nbsp; The geometric paintings come from 20+ years in the corporate world, organized and planned. &nbsp; For me, painting requires courage.&nbsp; The corporate life conditions you to do what others "approve" of.&nbsp; Being different is not always rewarded. &nbsp; Painting is a wonderful escape and the results provide the "visual vacation". &nbsp; My goal is to inspire a smile.</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>My current favorite painting is "Foo Ruse". &nbsp; The sensual shapes and colors remind me of a great guitar riff. &nbsp;"Two Oak Leaves" is hanging in my studio and continues to be interesting to look at. &nbsp;Danny has become attached to "Window in Color", but he may have to find another fave.&nbsp;</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>Last year on an artist studio tour in Dallas, I met several working artists.&nbsp; A potter/scupltor, without knowing he was talking to a painter, comments that "painters have really big egos".&nbsp; Hmmm...that day it felt like the potter/sculptors had big egos.&nbsp; Anyway, I am still looking for my artist persona and the "big" ego.</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>Decide to have a wonderful day!</div> Thu, 08 Jul 2010 08:21:52 CDT
